Clinical study of endoscopic prelacrimal recess in the treatment of fungal maxilary sinusitis

Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical effect and safety of endoscopic anterior lacrimal fossa approach in the treatment of fungal maxillary sinusitis.MethodsOne hundred patients of fungal maxillary sinusitis were treated by nasal endoscopic anterior lacrimal fossa approach,and other 100 cases were set up as the control group whose surgeries were done by meatus antrostomy. The clinical effect and com-plications were observed by using the principle of random allocation.ResultsThe cure rate of the treatment group was 99%. There was no obvious complication occurred during the operation. All cases were followed up more than one year,the effect was satisfactory. The cure rate in the control group was 70%,and the patients who were not recovered were cured by combined anterior and posterior approach. Conclusion This procedure is safe and with clear vision. The removal of the lesion was complete and stable with low recurrence rate. So this technique can solve the currently trouble of otorhinolaryngology doctors.
