The progress of eustachian tube dysfunction research
Abstract:Eustachian tube function is closely related to the middle ear surgery and the development of related diseases, and has drawn widespread attention in recent years. However, the complex structure of the eustachian tube is hidden and difficult to observe, therefore, less study is effective currently. Three-dimensional reconstruction techniques can clearly reproduce the structure and observe the function of the eustachian tube, and also is an important direction of current research. Endoscopic administration within the Eustachian tube, laser eustachian tuboplasty, balloon eustachian tuboplasty and other treatments of eustachian tube has made some progress, but the feasibility and effectiveness need to be further explored. There is no precise diagnostic criteria in Eustachian tube dysfunction, however, scales are used to evaluate it in study. More large sample,multi-center studies are in need to achieve a breakthrough in the future.
