Abstract:Although various models and guiding principles for delivering bad news have been developed both domestically and internationally, aiming to provide doctors with a systematic communication framework, there is still a lack of specific and detailed guidance on how to appropriately set the stage for bad news in practical operations. This article aims to explore the application methods and practical paths of the progressive strategy in the communication of bad news regarding disease diagnosis. The progressive strategy,as a communication approach that gradually reveals information in a step-by-step manner, has been introduced into medical communication, and is particularly suitable for handling situations where serious or adverse diagnostic results need to be conveyed to patients and their families. This strategy emphasizes gradually unfolding sensitive information in a gentle and step-by-step way, aiming to reduce the psychological shock of the recipient and promote understanding and empathy between doctors and patients.Research suggests that adopting the progressive strategy in delivering bad news helps build a trusting doctor-patient relationship, enhances patients'psychological adaptability, and improves communication effectiveness.
