Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy of Nao'an Granule combined with low-molecular-weight heparin(LMWH)in the treatment of acute brainstem infarction(ABI).Methods A total of 80 patients with ABI admitted to Lu'an Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2021 to December 2024 were enrolled and randomly assigned to the control group and the observation group(40 cases each)using a random number table method.Patients in both groups received foundational treatment including blood pressure control, maintenance of water-electrolyte balance, and nutritional support. The control group received foundational treatment plus LMWH,while the observation group received foundational treatment plus LMWH and Nao'an Granule.Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores, neurological function and neurotrophic factor levels, clinical efficacy, and the incidence of adverse reactions before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the primary symptoms, secondary symptoms and total TCM syndrome scores in the observa-tion group((6.36±1.49),(2.25±0.53),and(8.60±1.45)points,respectively)were lower than those in the control group((9.57±1.84),(3.64±0.78),and(13.22±2.17)points,respectively),with statistically significant differences(t=8.575,9.322,11.196,all P<0.05).The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score and S100B protein level in the observation group((5.40±1.19)points,(4.56±0.91)ng/L,respectively)were lower than those in the control group((7.12±1.51)points,(6.02±1.05)ng/L,respectively),while the nerve growth factor level((44.33±5.68)ng/L)was higher than that in the control group((39.06±5.12)ng/L),with statistically significant differences(t=5.658,6.646,4.359,all P<0.05).The total clinical effective rate was 92.50%(37/40)in the observation group, significantly higher than 75.00%(30/40)in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(x2=4.501,P<0.05).No statistically significant difference was found in the incidence of adverse reactions between the control group and the observation groups(x2=0.556,P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of Nao'an Granules and LMWH demon-strates definite therapeutic efficacy in patients with acute brainstem infarction, significantly improving TCM syndrome scores and neurological function, with a favorable safety profile.
