Efficacy of Feilike Mixture as an adjuvant treatment with compound sulfamethoxazole combined with salbutamol for treating pertussis in children

Abstract：Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of Feilike Mixture as an adjuvant treatment with compound sulfamethoxazole combined with salbutamol for treating pertussis in children.Methods A total of 162 children with pertussis treated in Ziyang Central Hospital from November 2023 to April 2025 were prospectively selected and divided into the control group(n=81)and the observation group(n=81)by the random number table method.The control group received compound sulfamethoxazole combined with salbutamol,and the observation group was additionally treated with Feilike Mixture on the basis of the control group.The clinical efficacy,recovery time of clinical symptoms,T lymphocyte levels before and after treatment and occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the control group and the observation group.Results Af-ter treatment,the total effective rate in the observation group was 92.59%(75/81),higher than that in the control group(79.01%(64/81))(χ2=6.131,P<0.05).After treatment,the recovery time of clinical symptoms such as spasmodic cough,dyspnea,fever and pulmonary rales in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group((4.56±1.86)days vs(6.01±1.74)days,(3.47±1.43)days vs(4.77±1.58)days,(4.34±1.23)days vs(5.56±1.21)days,(6.45±1.12)days vs(8.12±1.31)days)(t=5.124,5.490,6.364,8.721,all P<0.05).After treatment,the proportion and absolute values of CD3+T lymphocytes,CD3+CD4+helper T cells,and CD4+/CD8+ratio in the observation group were higher than those in the control group((68.73±4.25)%vs(62.52±4.47)%,(38.62±3.53)%vs(32.53±3.16)%,(1.52±0.18)%vs(1.25±0.13)%,(0.86±0.11)%vs(0.66±0.08)%,(1.40±0.18)%vs(1.15±0.16)%)(t=9.061,11.569,10.944,13.234,9.343,all P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in the proportion and absolute value of CD3+CD8+cytotoxic T cells(both P>0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the obser-vation group was 8.64%(7/81),showing no statistically significant difference compared with 9.88%(8/81)in the control group(χ2=0.073,P>0.05).Conclusion Feilike Mixture as an adjuvant treatment with compound sulfamethoxazole combined with salbutamol in treating pertussis in children is definite,which can effectively shorten the time of clinical symptom relief,regulate T lymphocyte immune function,and do not increase the incidence of adverse reactions.
