Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of idebenone combined with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS)in the treatment of post-stroke cognitive impairment(PSCI).Methods A total of 68 patients with PSCI who were treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology from October 2022 to October 2024 were selected and divided into the control group(n=34)and the observation group(n=34)according to the random number table method.Patients in the control group received rTMS therapy, while those in the observation group received idebenone combined with rTMS therapy. Both groups underwent continuous treatment for 4 weeks. The cognitive function, activities of daily living, serum indicators(interleukin-6(IL-6),high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(CRP),superoxide dismutase(SOD))before treatment and after 4 weeks of treatment, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results After 4 weeks of treatment, the scores of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale and the Mini-Mental State Examination in the obser-vation group were both higher than those in the control group((22.34±2.08)points vs(18.92±2.13)points,(28.62±1.57)points vs(24.77±1.65)points),with statistically significant differences(t=6.698,9.857,both P<0.05).The modified Barthel index score in the observation group was also significantly higher than that in the control group((62.78±2.71)vs(51.88±5.22)),with a sta-tistically significant difference(t=10.806,P<0.05).Furthermore,the levels of IL-6 and high-sensitivity CRP in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group((7.61±2.04)ng/L vs(9.82±2.11)ng/L,(4.07±0.54)mg/L vs(6.11±0.69)mg/L),while SOD level in the observation group were significantly higher than that in the control group((89.07±11.45)U/mL vs(81.13±10.27)U/mL),with statistically significant differences(t=﹣4.391,﹣13.576,3.010,all P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions showed no statistically significant difference between the observation group and the control group(11.76%(4/34)vs 5.88%(2/34))(χ2=0.183,P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of idebenone and rTMS can be used to improve cognitive func-tion in patients with PSCI,regulate inflammatory levels, reduce the degree of central nervous system damage, enhance activities of daily living, without increasing the risk of adverse reactions.
