Efficacy of Wenzhong Yangwei Mixture combined with omeprazole in the treatment of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease

Abstract：Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Wenzhong Yangwei Mixture combined with omeprazole in the treat-ment of gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD).Methods A total of 53 patients with GERD who were treated with Wenzhong Yangwei Mixture and omeprazole at Mianyang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)from January 2022 to December 2024 were retrospectively selected as the observation group,while another 53 patients with GERD who only received omeprazole treatment were selected as the control group.Both groups of patients were continuously treated for one month.The TCM syndrome score,Reflux Disease Questionnaire(RDQ)score,and the levels of serum gastrin and vasoactive intestinal peptide were compared before and after treatment between the two groups.The clinical efficacy and adverse reactions of patients in the observation group and control group were analyzed.Results After treatment,the TCM syndrome score,RDQ score and serum vasoactive intestinal peptide levels in the observation group((11.34±2.64)points,(9.74±2.69)points,(14.32±2.27)pg·mL-1)were significantly lower than those in the control group((14.56±3.05)points,(12.58±3.02)points,(17.71±3.21)pg·mL-1),and the differences were statistically significant(t=5.811,5.112,6.277,P<0.05).After treatment,the serum gastrin level in the observation group((64.79±7.33)pg·mL-1)was higher than that in the control group((59.58±6.85)pg·mL-1),and the difference was statistically significant(t=3.781,P<0.05).The total clinical effective rate in the control group(73.58%,39/53)was significantly lower than that in the observation group(92.45%,49/53),with a statistically significant difference(χ2=6.692,P<0.05).No statistically significant difference was observed in the adverse reaction rate between the control group and the observation group(7.55%(4/53)vs 3.77%(2/53))(χ2=0.177,P=0.674).Conclusion The combination of Wenzhong Yangwei Mixture and omeprazole effectively alleviates the clinical symptoms in GERD patients,improves the levels of gastrointestinal hormones,and demonstrates significant clinical efficacy with good safety.
