Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of propofol combined with etomidate on patients with endometrial polyps undergo-ing hysteroscopic surgery. Methods A total of 98 patients who underwent hysteroscopic surgery for endometrial polyps in the 3201 Hospital from August 2023 to October 2024 were enrolled in this study and randomly divided into two groups. The control group(49 cases)was anesthetized with propofol, while the study group(49 cases)was given a combination of propofol and etomidate. The hemodynamic parameters, anesthetic effects, pain scale scores, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results There were no statistically significant differences in mean arterial pressure and heart rates between the two groups before induction of anesthesia(T0),at loss of consciousness(T1),during dilatation of the cervix(T2),and after emergence from anesthesia(T3)(both P>0.05).The blood oxygen saturation at T1 was(99.24±0.70)%in the study group, higher than(98.46±0.88)%in the con-trol group(t=4.856,P<0.05).The recovery time and orientation recovery time of the study group((3.16±1.68)min,(4.32±1.84)min)were shorter than those of the control group((4.34±2.27)min,(5.70±2.55)min)(t=2.925,3.072,both P<0.05).There were no statis-tically significant differences in the length of anesthesia induction and the length of surgery between the two groups(both P>0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in the preoperative,12 h postoperative and 24 h postoperative scores on the Brief Mental Status Exercise scale, and the visual analogue pain scores at 6 h,12 h and 24 h after surgery between the two groups(all P>0.05).The incidence rates of respiratory depression, injection pain, and hypoxemia in the study group(4.08%(2/49),2.04%(1/49)and 2.04%(1/49))were lower than those in the control group(26.53%(13/49),20.41%(10/49)and 24.49%(12/49))(χ2=9.525,8.295,10.731,all P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of propofol and etomidate in hysteroscopic surgery for endometrial polyps can effectively reduce stress responses, alleviate postoperative pain, stabilize hemodynamics, and have a minimal impact on postopera-tive cognitive function.Compared with propofol alone, the combination of propofol and etomidate can shorten the recovery time of awakening and orientation,as well as reduce the incidence of respiratory depression, injection pain and hypoxemia.
