Efficacy of mucopolysaccharide polysulfonate combined with compound Huangbai liquid on patients with superficial thrombophlebitis of the lower extremities

Abstract：Objective To investigate the efficacy of mucopolysaccharide polysulfonate(MPS)cream combined with compound Huangbai liquid wax therapy on patients with superficial thrombophlebitis of the lower extremities(STPLE).Methods A total of 98 patients with STPLE treated at Ningbo Yinzhou No.2 Hospital from June 2023 to January 2025 were retrospectively selected and divided into a control group(n=61)and an observation group(n=37)based on the treatment regimen.61 patients in the control group re-ceived compound Huangbai liquid wax therapy,and 37 patients in the observation group received MPS cream combined with compound Huangbai liquid wax therapy.The symptom score evaluation,therapeutic effect,inflammatory factors,hemorheological indicators,and recurrence rates were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the symptom scores for pain,redness and swelling and cord-like symptom scores in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group((1.55±0.44)points vs(2.37±0.63)points,(1.83±0.56)points vs(2.45±0.59)points,(1.63±0.46)points vs(2.03±0.63)points)(t=-6.949,-5.139,-3.355,P<0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(97.30%vs 80.33%)(χ2=4.384,P<0.05).After treat-ment,the levels of C-reactive protein and tumor necrosis factor α in the observation group were lower than those in the control group((1.98±0.58)mg·L-1 vs(2.77±0.71)mg·L-1,(0.98±0.31)g·L-1 vs(1.25±0.36)g·L-1](t=-5.708,-3.788,both P<0.05).After treatment,the observation group exhibited lower levels of high-shear whole blood viscosity,plasma viscosity,and low-shear whole blood viscosity compared to the control group((4.05±1.24)mPa·s vs(5.17±1.13)mPa·s,(1.73±0.26)mPa·s vs(1.91±0.31)mPa·s,(9.54±1.22)mPa·s vs(10.86±1.73)mPa·s)(t=-4,584,-2.956,-4.065,all P<0.05).The recurrence rate of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(8.11%(3/37)vs 24.59%(15/61))(χ2=4.173,P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of MPS cream and compound Huangbai liquid wax therapy demonstrates a good therapeutic effect on patients with STPLE,which can also effectively regulate the lev-els of inflammatory factors,improve hemodynamics and reduce the recurrence rate.
