Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of silodosin as adjuvant therapy following transurethral resection of the prostate in benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Methods A total of 120 BPH patients who underwent surgical treatment in the De-partment of Urology at Shanghai Hudong Hospital from January 2022 to May 2024 were retrospectively selected and divided into the control group(63 cases who only received standard transurethral resection of the prostate)and the observation group(57 cases who received adjuvant treatment with silodosin after transurethral prostate resection). The International Index of Erectile Function-5(IIEF-5),International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS),urodynamic indicators, and the incidence of complications were compared between the control group and the observation group before and after treatment. Results In terms of IPSS,both groups of BPH pa-tients demonstrated a reduction post-treatment,with the observation group showing significantly lower scores compared to the control group((6.39±1.27)points vs(12.84±2.56)points)(t=17.199,P<0.05).In terms of IIEF-5,both groups of BPH patients demonstrated an increase posttreatment, with the observation group showing significantly higher scores compared to the control group((20.96±1.83)points vs(18.51±1.65)points)(t=7.713,P<0.05).After treatment, the residual urine volume of the control group and the observation group decreased((42.12±3.79)mL vs(50.34±4.53)mL)and the maximum urinary flow rate increased((19.32±2.13)mL·s-1 vs(15.15±1.67)mL·s-1),and the improvement of observation group was better than those of the control group(t=10.719,11.992,both P<0.05).The total complication rates were 19.05%(12/63)in the control group and 8.77%(5/57)in the observation group, with no statistically signif-icant difference(χ2=2.599,P=0.107).Conclusion Silodosin-assisted transurethral resection of the prostate can effectively improve lower urinary tract symptoms in BPH patients, enhance urodynamic parameters, and optimize the recovery process of sexual function, without increasing complications, demonstrating good safety.
