Efficacy of Tegafur/Gimeracil/Oteracil(S-1)combined with oxaliplatin in treating patients with locally advanced gastric cardia cancer

Abstract：Objective To observe the efficacy of adjuvant therapy with Tegafur/Gimeracil/Oteracil(S-1)and oxaliplatin in treating locally advanced gastric cardia cancer.Methods A total of 72 patients with locally advanced gastric cardia cancer treated at the Department of Oncology,Nanyang Yuxi Jianhe Hospital from January 2019 to August 2023 were retrospective selected and divided into a control group(n=36)and an observation group(n=36)based on the treatment regimens.The control group was treat-ed with oxaliplatin and capecitabine,and the observation group was treated with oxaliplatin and S-1.The efficacy,tumor markers,immune function,and the incidence of toxic side effects were recorded and compared between the two groups.Results The dis-ease control rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(94.44%(34/36)vs 77.78%(28/36))(χ2=4.181,P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of CD4+and CD4+/CD8+in the observation group were higher than those in the control group((35.94±3.11)%vs(33.04±3.53)%,(1.58±0.31)vs(1.42±0.33),respectively),while the level of CD8+in the observation group was lower than that in the control group((23.02±2.65)%vs(25.11±2.30)%)(t=3.699,-3.574,2.120,all P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of CA19-9,CA125 and CEA in the observation group were lower than those in the control group((9.52±1.48)U·mL-1 vs(12.99±1.52)U·mL-1,(27.55±5.14)U·mL-1 vs(33.82±5.36)U·mL-1,and(4.38±0.89)ng·mL-1 vs(6.19±1.31)ng·mL-1,respectively)(t=-9.814,-5.066,-6.857,all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of toxic side effects between the obser-vation group and the control group(72.22%(26/36)vs 88.89%(32/36))(χ2=3.192,P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of S-1 and oxaliplatin as adjuvant therapy for locally advanced cardia cancer demonstrates favorable efficacy,improves immune function and tumor marker expression,and does not increase the risk of toxic side effects.
