Abstract:Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of compound brain peptide ganglioside combined with edaravone in the treatment of patients with severe craniocerebral injury. Methods A prospective study was conducted.A total of 96 patients with se-vere craniocerebral injury who were admitted to Nanyang Central Hospital from January to December 2024 were selected and divided into two groups based on the random number table method. The control group consisted of 48 cases treated with edaravone, while the observation group included 48 cases treated with the combination of compound brain peptide ganglioside and edaravone. The therapeu-tic effects,National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)scores,Mini-Mental State Examination Scale(MMSE)scores, oxidative stress and neuroinjury factors, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the control group and the observation group. Results The effective rate of the observation group was 87.50%(42/48),which was higher than that of the control group at 70.83%(34/48)(χ2=4.402,P<0.05).The observation group had a post-treatment NIHSS score((11.52±1.73)point),which was lower than that of the control group((14.25±1.69)point)(t=7.821,P<0.05).Additionally,the MMSE score of the observation group was(24.72±3.15)point,higher than that of the control group((21.36±2.89)point)(t=5.445,P<0.05).After treatment, the superoxide dismutase level in the observation group((108.66±12.73)U·mL-1)was higher than that in the control group((101.71±10.74)U·mL-1)(t=2.891,P<0.05),while the levels of myeloperoxidase,neuron-specific enolase and central nervous system specific protein β(S100β)in the observation group((3.21±0.58)mg·mL-1,(21.64±3.84)μg·L-1,(0.85±0.12)μg·L-1,respectively)were lower than those in the control group((3.89±0.57)mg·mL-1,(28.31±4.23)μg·L-1,(0.98±0.18)μg·L-1,respectively)(t=5.793,8.091,4.163,all P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(8.33%(4/48)vs 12.50%(6/48))showed no statistically significant difference(χ2=0.447,P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of compound brain peptide ganglioside and edaravone is beneficial in improving neurological and cognitive functions in patients with severe craniocerebral injury, alleviating oxidative stress and neural damage, with a good safety profile.
