Efficacy of aripiprazole combined with quetiapine fumarate in the treatment of patients with schizophrenia

Abstract：Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of aripiprazole combined with quetiapine in patients with schizophre-nia and to assess its effects on emotional regulation.Methods 137 patients with schizophrenia treated in Sinopharm China Rail-way Psychiatric Hospital from February 2020 to December 2023 were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups using the random number method.The control group(n=69)received aripiprazole,and the combined group(n=68)received aripiprazole combined with quetiapine.The clinical efficacy,pre-and post-treatment positive and negative symptom scale(PANSS)scores,emotion regula-tion status(Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD),Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAMA))and medication safety of the two regimens were compared.Results The combined group achieved a total effective rate of 92.65%(63/68),significantly higher than the 81.16%(56/69)observed in the control group(χ2=3.960,P=0.040).In terms of PANSS score,the positive symptoms,negative symptoms and general pathology scores of the combined group after treatment((15.48±1.15)points,(14.71±1.54)points,(23.31±1.62)points)were lower than those of the control group((20.82±1.96)points,(18.72±1.89)points,(29.49±1.68)points),and the differenc-es were statistically significant(t=19.413,13.603,21.913,all P<0.05).In terms of emotion regulation,the HAMD and HAMA scores of the combined group after treatment were((10.91±1.14)and(12.89±2.15)respectively),which were lower than those of the control group((13.02±1.19)and(17.17±3.89)respectively),with statistically significant differences(t=10.595,7.954,both P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the control group was 24.64%(17/69),and that in the observation group was 25.00%(17/68),there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups(χ2=0.002,P=0.961).Conclusion Quetiapine combined with ar-ipiprazole in the treatment of schizophrenia can enhance its efficacy,improve positive and negative symptoms and negative emotions,and the safety is controllable.
