Efficacy and safety of Tongguanteng injection combined with TPF induction chemotherapy in treatment of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Abstract：Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of Tongguanteng injection combined with TPF induction chemotherapy in the treatment of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Methods A total of 58 nasopharyngeal cancer patients who were treat-ed in the Sichuan Friendship Hospital from June 2022 to June 2023 were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,with 29 cases in each group.The treatment plan of the control group was TPF-induced chemotherapy,and the treat-ment plan of the observation group was TPF-induced chemotherapy combined with Tongguanteng injection.The efficacy,immune function,tumor markers,survival and the occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results Af-ter treatment,the controlled rate of diseases of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(86.21% vs 62.07% )(χ2=4.406,P<0.05).After treatment,the CD4+level and CD4+/CD8+level were higher in the observation group than in the control group,and the CD8+level in the observation group was lower than in the control group((36.27±3.93)% vs(33.24±3.51)%,(1.53±0.37)vs(1.32±0.33),(26.61±2.54)% vs(28.52±2.47)% )(t=3.097,2.281,-2.903,all P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of carcinoembryonic antigen,squamous cell carcinoma antigen and carbohydrate antigen 125 were lower in the observation group than in the control group((15.36±4.29)ng·mL-1 vs(17.99±4.31)ng·mL-1,(2.52±0.49)ng·L-1 vs(3.99±0.52)ng·L-1,(59.26±8.12)U·mL-1 vs(63.85±8.34)U·mL-1)(t=-2.329,-11.079,-2.124,all P<0.05).The progression-free survival time and overall survival time in the observation group were longer than in the control group((6.08±1.03)months vs(4.58±0.41)months and(23.64±3.21)months vs(19.95±3.30)months)(t=7.286,4.316,both P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was lower in the observation group than in the control group(44.83% vs 72.41% )(χ2=4.549,P<0.05).Conclusion Tongguanteng injection combined with TPF-induced che-motherapy has better efficacy in treating the patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma,which can regulate the immune system,reduce the level of tumor markers,and decrease the incidence of adverse reactions.
