Efficacy of cetuximab combined with FOLFOX4 regimen on treatment of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of cetuximab combined with FOLFOX4 regimen on treatment of patients with met-astatic colorectal cancer(mCRC).Methods A retrospective analysis of clinical data on 161 patients with mCRC who were treated in the Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital from April 2021 to April 2024 was conducted.According to the therapeutic regimen,the patients were assigned to the single group(82 cases treated with FOLFOX4 regimen alone)and the combination group(79 cases treated with cetux-imab combined with FOLFOX4 regimen).The therapeutic effects,tumor markers[carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),carbohydrate antigen 724(CA724)and carbohydrate antigen 199(CA199)],imaging features(CT enhancement value and lesion diameter),T cell subsets(CD3+,CD4+and CD8+)and incidence rates of adverse reactions were observed and compared between the two groups.Results The disease con-trol rate of the combination group was 87.34% (69/79)after 6 courses of treatment,higher than 73.17% (60/82)of the single group(χ2=5.074,P=0.024).The levels of CEA,CA724 and CA199 of the combination group were respectively(19.52±6.02)ng·mL-1,(289.73±95.26)U·mL-1 and(121.15±28.66)U·mL-1,lower than(23.57±7.43)ng·mL-1,(330.25±101.13)U·mL-1 and(137.43±30.12)U·mL-1 of the single group(t=3.792,2.615,3.511,all P<0.05).The CT enhancement value and lesion diameter of the combination group were respectively(8.64±2.54)HU and(2.03±0.55)cm,lower than(11.17±3.02)HU and(2.24±0.62)cm of the single group(t=5.742,2.270,both P<0.05).The per-centages of CD3+and CD4+of the combination group were respectively(50.62±5.64)% and(36.72±3.83)%,higher than(48.25±5.39)% and(34.16±3.58)% of the single group;the percentage of CD8+of the combination group was(23.75±3.34)%,lower than(26.32±3.11)% of the single group(t=2.726,4.383,5.055,all P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the incidence rates of gastrointestinal re-actions,bone marrow suppression,rash as well as liver function damage gradeⅠ～Ⅱand gradeⅢ～Ⅳ between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Cetuximab combined with FOLFOX4 regimen is effective in treating the patients with mCRC.It can improve tumor markers,imaging features and immune function,with the safety favorable.
