Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of diquafosol sodium(DQS)and vitamin A palmitate eye gel(hereinaf-ter referred to as vitamin A eye gel)on dry eye syndrome. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 80 patients with dry eye syndrome admitted to Zhoushan Hospital from April 2020 to April 2023.They were divided into a vitamin A group and a DQS group based on different medication regimens, with 40(80 eyes)in each group. The patients in the vitamin A group were treated with vitamin A eye gel,and those in the DQS group with DQS+vitamin A eye gel.The therapeutic effects, ocular surface disease index(OSDI),corneal fluorescein staining score(CFS),vision-related quality of life and adverse reactions(ocular surface symptoms, ocular irritation, ocular inflammation, and increased secretion)were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of 97.50%(78/80)in the DQS group was higher than 82.50%(66/80)in the vitamin A group(χ2=10.000,P<0.05).After receiving corresponding treatment, the OSDI((38.90±11.47)points,(50.65±14.02)points,respectively)and CFS((0.38±0.11)points,(0.58±0.17)points,respectively)scores in the DQS group and the vitamin A group were significantly higher than those before treatment((77.33±10.78)points,(76.55±10.90)points,(1.48±0.16)points,(1.50±0.17)points,respectively)(t=-5.802,-8.835,0.455,-0.766,P<0.05).The scores of NEI-VFQ-25 in both groups improved, and the DQS group had higher scores after receiving corresponding treatment(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the two groups after receiving corresponding treatment(χ2=2.051,P=0.152).Conclusion DQS combined with vitamin A eye gel is reliable, effective, safe. It can improve clinical symptoms and promote vision-related quality of life.
