Efficacy and safety of duodoning combined with methylphenidate hydrochloride in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

Abstract：Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of duodongning capsule combined with methylphenidate hydrochlo-ride tablets in the treatment of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD).Methods A total of 116 children with ADHD admitted to Hai'an City People's Hospital from January 2022 to October 2024 were selected and divided into a control group and an observation group using the random number table method,with 58 in each group.During the study,2 and 3 cases dropped out in the control group and observation,with 56 and 55 cases finally included in the two groups,respectively.The patients in the control group were treated with methylphenidate hydrochloride tablets,while those in the observation group received duodongning capsule based on the regimen in the control group.All the patients in both groups were treated for 1 month.Observation indicators included clinical treatment efficacy,improvement time of attention distraction,hyperactivity,and emotional instability,changes in six traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom scores,SNAP-Ⅳ(Swanson,Nolan and Pelham scale-version Ⅳ)scores,PSQ(Con-ners'Parent Symptom Questionnaire)scores,serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 levels,and adverse drug reactions.Results The total effective rate in the observation group was 96.36%(53/55),higher than that in the control group(83.93%,47/56)(χ2=4.806,P=0.028).The improvement times of attention distraction(11.63±1.76)d,hyperactivity(10.45±0.99)d,and emotional instability(9.56±1.34)d in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group((15.23±2.12)d,(14.65±1.56)d,(13.65±2.06)d)(t=9.741,16.967,12.375,all P<0.001).After treatment,the six TCM symptom scores,SNAP-Ⅳ scores,and PSQ scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(all P<0.05).The serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 level in the observation group after treatment(14.67±1.99)μg·L-1 was higher than that in the control group(11.95±2.03)μg·L-1(t=8.929,P<0.001).The incidence of adverse reac-tions in the two groups were 3.64%(2/55)and 3.57%(2/56),respectively(P>0.05).Conclusion Duodongning capsule combined with methylphenidate hydrochloride tablets shows significant efficacy in treating children with ADHD by effectively improving symptoms,shortening symptom relief time and demonstrating good safety.
