Effects of human menopausal gonadotropin combined with clomifene citrate on ovulation and sex hormone levels in PCOS infertile patients

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of human menopausal gonadotropin(HMG)combined with clomifene citrate on ovulation and sex hormone levels in polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)infertile patients.Methods A total of 102 PCOS infertile patients treated in Ankang Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital from March 2021 to March 2024 were selected and divided into observation group and control group by the random number table method,with 51 in each group.The patients in the control group were treated with clomifene citrate and those in the observation group with HMG based on the regimen in the control group.The ovulation status,sex hormone levels,pregnancy rate and adverse reaction incidence were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the ovarian volume in the observation group((8.65±2.12)cm3)was smaller than that of the con-trol((28.14±2.53)cm3),the antral follicles number((7.13±1.64))was smaller than that of the control((9.27±1.42))(t=3.905,7.045,P<0.05).The comparison of the number of dominant follicles between the observation group and the control group(2.56±0.84),(2.72±0.37)]showed no significant difference(t=1.214,P>0.05).The T and LH levels of the observation group after treatment(respectively(1.37±0.21)nmol·L-1,(5.32±1.13)U·L-1)were lower than those of the control(respectively(2.19±0.42)nmol·L-1,(7.09±2.17)U·L-1),E2 and FSH levels(respectively(149.28±16.54)pmol·L-1,(7.52±1.39)U·L-1)were higher than those in the con-trol(respectively(137.61±15.93)pmol·L-1,(6.35±1.21)U·L-1)(t=12.471,5.167,3.629,4.534,P<0.05).The pregnancy rate in the observation group(68.63%)was higher than that in the control(41.18%)(t=7.761,P<0.05).The total incidence was not statistically different between the two groups(15.69%vs 17.64%)(χ2=0.071,P>0.05).Conclusion HMG combined with clomifene citrate in the treatment of PCOS infertile patients can improve the ovarian volume and the number of antral follicles,regulate the levels of sex hormones in patients and increase pregnancy rate.Furthermore,it is of good safety.
