Efficacy of arthroscopy combined with orthopedic formula No.1 in treating early-stage knee osteoarthritis

Abstract：Objective To investigate the efficacy of arthroscopy combined with orthopedic No.1 mixture directional penetra-tion in the treatment of early knee osteoarthritis(KOA)and its influence on inflammatory factors and knee function.Methods A to-tal of 70 patients with early KOA admitted to Rugao Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2023 to June 2024 were enrolled in this study and divided into the experimental group and control group by random number table method,with 35 in each group.The patients in the control group implemented arthroscopy alone,while those in the experimental group were treated with ar-throscopy combined with orthopedic No.1 mixture directional penetration.Before treatment,2 weeks and 2 months after treatment,visual analogue scale(VAS)score was used to evaluate the degree of pain,Lysholm score and WOMAC score were used to evalu-ate the knee joint function.The levels of inflammatory factors(interleukin-1β(IL-1β),tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α),C-telopeptide of typeⅡcollagen(CTX-Ⅱ))were compared between the two groups.Results At 2 weeks and 2 months after treatment,the VAS score,WOMAC score,IL-1β,TNF-α and CTX-Ⅱlevels in the experimental group were((1.69±0.34)points,(1.15±0.31)points,(26.74±2.48)points,(24.01±2.33)points,(28.07±3.02)ng·L-1,(20.41±2.63)ng·L-1,(23.16±3.20)ng·L-1,(16.07±2.84)ng·L-1,(6.88±0.77)ng·mL-1,(5.34±0.61)ng·mL-1),respectively,which were significantly lower than those in the control group((1.94±0.41)points,(1.48±0.36)points,(29.04±2.66)points,(26.15±2.50)points,(30.65±3.16)ng·L-1,(22.97±2.88)ng·L-1,(26.09±3.45)ng·L-1,(18.04±3.02)ng·L-1,(7.64±0.89)ng·mL-1,(5.99±0.75)ng·mL-1)((t=2.777,4.109),(t=3.742,3.705),(t=3.492,3.883),(t=3.684,2.811),(t=3.821,3.978),all P<0.05).At 2 weeks and 2 months after treatment,the Lysholm scores of the experimental group((78.49±5.33)points,(81.01±5.04)points)were significantly higher than those of the control group((73.53±5.06)points,(77.25±4.91)points)(t=3.993,3.161,P<0.05).Conclusion Arthroscopy combined with orthopedic No.1 mixture directional penetration can significantly relieve the pain symptoms and inflammatory response in the treatment of early KOA patients,and it is conducive to improving the knee function of patients.
