Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect and prognosis of chemotherapy separately combined with cetuximab and bevacizumab in the treatment of patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 80 patients with advanced colorectal cancer admitted to the Affiliated Cangnan Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from December 2019 to December 2023 and received 1 year of follow-up. All patients enrolled underwent chemo-therapy. According to the drug used additionally, they were divided into the cetuximab group and bevacizumab group. Clinical efficacy, serum tumor markers, and the incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups were analyzed. Progression-free survival (PFS) of the two groups was compared. Results The remission rate and disease control rate in the cetuximab group were 52.50% (21/40),65.00% (26/40) and they were 55.00% (22/40),67.50% (27/40) in the bevacizumab group, showing no statistically sig-nificant difference between the two groups (x2=0.050,0.056,P=0.823,0.813). After chemotherapy, the serum carcinoembryonic antigen and carbohydrate antigen 199 in the two groups were decreased as compared with those before, and the levels of CEA and CA199 in the bevacizumab group were lower than those in the cetuximab group ((9.06±1.16) μg·L-1 vs (9.63±2.21) μg·L-1,(87.45±19.25) U·mL-1 vs (88.76±20.19) U·mL-1),but there was no significant difference between the two groups (t=1.201,0.270,P=0.233,0.767). The incidence of skin rash in the cetuximab group was higher than that in the bevacizumab group (Z=2.632,P=0.009). The median PFS of the cetuximab group and the bevacizumab group was 9.38 months and 10.08 months, demonstrating no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Cetuximab and bevacizumab separately combined with che-motherapy can achieve comparable effects in the treatment of patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Additionally, adverse reac-tions are mild and the prognosis is similar. However, cetuximab is more prone to cause skin rash, and prevention should be strength-ened when it is used in clinical practice.
