Abstract:Objective To observe the short-term and long-term efficacy of recombinant human vascular endothelial inhibi-tory injection (Endostar) in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer and its impact on tumor markers. Methods A total of 102 patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) admitted to Huainan Chaoyang Hospital from January 2018 to April 2019 were enrolled in this study. Of these,51 patients were employed in the chemotherapy group and 51 in the combination group. The patients in the chemotherapy group received a platinum-based two-drug combination regimen while those in the combination group were administered with recombinant human vascular endothelial inhibitory injection in addition to the chemotherapy regimen. The short-term clinical efficacy after treatment, levels of tumor markers such as neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Cancer pain intensity was assessed using the visual an-alogue scale (VAS),and cancer-related fatigue was evaluated with the Piper's fatigue scale-revised (PFS-R). All the 102 patients were followed up for 5 years to observe the 5-year survival rate and assess long-term efficacy. Results The overall response rate was significantly higher in the combination group than in the chemotherapy group (84.31% vs 66.67%,x²=4.292,P=0.038). Af-ter treatment, the NSE level ((7.70±0.95) ng·mL-1),the CEA level ((3.24±0.73) ng·mL-1),the VAS score ((1.56±0.28) points) and the PFS-R score ((3.02±0.55) points) in the combination group were remarkably lower than those ((11.51±1.05) ng·mL-1,(6.23±0.59) ng·mL-1,(2.14±0.34) points and (4.21±0.47) points) in the chemotherapy group (t=19.216,22.749,9.404,11.747,all P<0.05). The 5-year survival rate of the combination group (51.06%) was significantly higher than that of the chemotherapy group (22.92%),and the difference was statistically significant (x²=4.000,P=0.046). Conclusion Recombinant human endostatin injection has good short-term and long-term efficacy in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer since it can reduce the level of tumor markers in pa-tients,improve the degree of pain and cancer-related fatigue in patients, and the 5-year survival rate of patients is high. Therefore,it is worthy of application.
