Analysis on the rationality of nicotinamide injection in 585 inpatients

Abstract:Objective:To analyze the use of nicotinamide injection in inpatients of our hospital and evaluate its reasonableness to provide reference for rational clinical use.Methods:A retrospective study was conducted to analyze all the medical records of discharged patients recieving nicotinamide injection in our hospital from January 2023 to June 2023.The data anlyzed included basic patient information,main diagnosis,and application of nicotinamide injection.Meanwhile,the Pareto chart was used to determine the main types of irrational drug use.Results:A total of 585 patients were treated with nicotinamide injection,including 318 males(54.36%)and 267 females(45.64%).The age of the patients ranged from 26 to 101 years old,with 561 patients(97.26%)being middle-aged or elderly(≥46 years old).Among these patients,391 exhibited irrational use of medication,with 264(67.52%)involving inappropriate indications,58(14.83%)inappropriate solvent selection,55(14.07%)lower-than-recommended dosage,8(2.05%)contraindications,5(1.28%)excessively long course of treatment,and 1(0.26%)higher-than-recommended dosage.Conclusion:The irrational use of nicotinamide solution in clinical practice highlights the need for strengthened regulatory oversight and interventions to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medication for patients.
