One case of limb numbness and limited activity caused by meropenem

Abstract:One 32 year-old female patient was admitted mainly because 17 days after cesarean section and fever for 7 days. The patient was diagnosed as puerperal infection and was treated with moxifloxacin and meropenem successively. Jaw skin numbness appeared during the treatment of meropenem (1 g, q 8 h). And the patient further developed limb numbness, weak patellar tendon reflex, hypoalgesia, limitation of activity 2 days later. Nervous system disease and thrombotic disease were excluded after consultation of neurology department and cardiovascular surgery. ADR induced by meropenem was considered and meropenem was stopped immediately. The next day, the above system was improved without any treatment.
