Utilization analysis of drugs for improving cerebrovascular circulation in 31 hospitals of Wuhan area from 2014 to 2016

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the utilization of drugs for improving cerebrovascular circulation in Wuhan area and to provide references for rational drug use. Methods: The utilization of drugs for improving cerebrovascular circulation from 31 hospitals of Wuhan area during 2014 - 2016 was analyzed statistically and retrospectively in terms of consumption sum, defined daily doses (DDDs) and defined daily cost (DDC). Results: There were totally 22 types of drugs used for improving cerebrovascular circulation in Wuhan from 2014 to 2016. Their total sale sums increased year by year. The drugs with the top 2 sale sum in the past three years were deproteinised calf serum and vinpocetine, the ratio sum of which was close to 50%. Drugs with the top 4 DDDs were ginkgo biloba extract, tolazoline, nicergoline and deproteinised calf serum. And drugs with the top 5 DDC were urinary kallidinogenase, troxerutin brain protein hydrolysate, fasudil, cinepazide and deproteinised calf serum. Conclusion: During 2014 to 2016 in 31 hospitals of Wuhan area, there are many kinds of drugs for improving cerebrovascular circulation and the clinical application of those drugs increased persistently. Clinicians should select rational kinds of drugs according to the specific situation.
