Severe oral mucositis induced by fluorouracil

Abstract:A 38-year-old female patient who had an operation of uterus curettage about 5 months ago was diagnosed as invasive hydatidiform mole according to the pathology. The patient received infusion of fluorouracil last time after operation and admitted to hospital for severe oral mucositis for 3 days. The diagnosis was invasive hydatidiform mole Ⅲ stage with low risk, severe oral mucositis. The patient had severe oral ulceration with bleeding spots, inability to eat, slurred speech. The initial treatment was Kangfuxin liquid (10 mL, bid, po), recombinant human epidermal growth factor external solution (4000 IU, qd, external use) for symptomatic support treatment, at the same time, the patient was given parenteral nutrition and the related infection indexes were detected, the oral cavity cleaning was strengthened. After 3 days, the oral mucositis improved, the initial treatment was continued. After 6 days, the patient's condition was obviously improved, with liquid diet, the parenteral nutrition was discontinued. After 14 days, the patient almost recovered to normal condition, with normal diet, and discharged from hospital.
