Analysis of therapeutic schedule and pharmaceutical care of one patient with acute cholangitis

Abstract:One 71-year-old female patient was hospitalized because of the intermittent hyperpyrexia, shiver and emesia that had persisted more than 2 months and aggravated 1 week. This patient in her past history had been executed the operation on gallbladder for 3 times, and at this time she was diagnosed as the acute cholangitis and then was hospitalized in our hospital. After admission, the patient was given the treatment including prohibition of food and water, gastrointestinal decompression, executing exploration of the common bile duct and drainage, anti-infection, the prevention of stress ulcer, liver protection and parenteral nutrition support. Throughout the therapeutic process, the clinical pharmacists implemented the pharmaceutical care for this patient,and offered medication recommendations after depth analyses especially in the administrations of drugs of anti-infection, prevention of stress ulcer and liver protection. During this process, the works of the clinical pharmacists were recognized by the clinicians. After 18 days of treatment, the patient was discharged from hospital with improved condition.
