Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical use of fructose-containing injections in hospitalized patients and analyze the rationality of their medication. Methods: The retrospective study was carried out to evaluate 19468 cases using fructose-containing injections from January 2016 to December 2016. The use of fructose-containing injections and relevant adverse drug reaction was analyzed in terms of indications, dosage, combined use with a variety of fructose-containing injections, using as a part of parenteral nutrition or drug solvent, etc. The application of fructose-containing injections was also analyzed before and after intervention. Results: There were totally 13 ADRs associated with fructose-containing injections or its solvent in 2016. From January 2016 to June 2016, the numbers of cases using fructose-containing injections with inappropriate indication, overdose, other multiple fructose-containing injections, using fructose-containing injections as a part of parenteral nutrition and a solvent, contraindication were 12386, 853, 5742, 3971, 3400, 508 respectively, while those numbers from July 2016 to December 2016 were 6180, 194, 2763, 83, 377, 323 respectively. Through the monitoring and intervention, the cases with irrational use of fructose-containing injections dropped from 26960 during January to June 2016 to 9920 during July to December 2016. The overall rate of decline was 63.20%. The use amount of fructose-containing injections also dropped from 86604 during January to June 2016 to 26362 during July to December 2016. The rate of decline was 69.56%. And 3.4 million yuan was saved simultaneously. Conclusion: Fructose-containing injections should be strictly used in accordance with drug instructions. Rational use of fructose-containing injections could reduce usage amount, save drug cost, ensure drug safety.
