Abstract:Case 1: one 62-year-old female patient was admitted to hospital mainly because of nausea and vomiting after taking 77 doxepin tablets. The patient had type 2 diabetes mellitus. And her blood glucose was maintained between 8 – 13 mmol·L-1. After admission, blood test showed the fasting plasma glucose was 21.4 mmol·L-1, which was considered as abnormally increased blood glucose. Insulin injection and protamine biosynthetic human insulin injection (premixed 30 R) were given to her and the level of blood glucose dropped. She discharged from hospital 7 days later. But her level of blood glucose was still higher than the normal level. Case 2: One 22-year-old female patient was admitted to hospital mainly because of unconsciousness, convulsions and arrhythmias after taking about 60 – 70 doxepin tablets. After admission, lab test showed the fasting plasma glucose was 11.8 mmol·L-1. Her blood glucose dropped to the normal level 9 days later without any treatment.
