Prescription analysis on the use of Fengshi Gutong capsules in patients of all ages

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the utilization ofFengshi Gutong capsules, in order to provide the references of rational drug use.Methods: A total of 913 prescriptions in outpatients were collected, which prescriptedFengshi Gutong capsules from January 2015 to June 2015. The data which included patients' gender, age, and dosage were retrospectively analyzed by the methods of deifned daily doses (DDDs) and drug utilization index (DUI).Results:The DUI ofFengshi Gutong capsules for patients in all ages were in the range of 1.25 – 1.53. The top three groups in terms of DDDs were female patients with the age of 61 ~ 70 years, 81 ~ 90 years and male patients in 71 ~ 80 years. The usage proportion in female patients was higher than that of male patients, accounting for 57.50%. The multiples of average daily dose against DDDs in different age groups were 1.53 for female in the age of 81 ~ 90 years, 1.50 for male in 11 ~ 20 years, 1.47 for female in 91 ~ 100 years, 1.42 for male in 71 ~ 80 years and female in 51 ~ 60 years, respectively.Conclusion: The application ofFengshi Gutong capsules in our center was basically rational. But the situations such as high dosage use of drug were existed. The supervision on the usage of drugs which contains toxic Chinese herbal medicine should be strengthened.
