One case of serious liver function damage induced by prednisone activating the hepatitis b virus

Abstract:One 58-year-old female patient has previous history of rheumatoid arthritis for more than 10 years and has taken oral acetic acid throwing prednisone tablets (5 mg, bid) for more than 10 years. The patient was admitted to hospital mainly because pain of the knee joints had been aggravated for more than 2 years. The liver function of the patient was abnormal after admission, and the treatment of protecting liver function, retreating yellow, antivirus were given to the patient. And then the total bilirubin and direct bilirubin continued rising. Severe yellowing of the skin sclera and ascites occurred. The administration of prednisone was stopped and the continuous symptomatic treatment including antivirus, injection of plasma, diuresis were given to the patient. The symptoms and liver function of the patient gradually improved, and the patient discharged after the 66-day treatment.
