One case of acute renal failure induced by foscarnet sodium injection

Abstract:A 70-year-old female patient with strip sample blisters on the right season costal area and right side of the abdominal skin and feeling prickling pain was diagnosed as herpes zoster. The patient was given foscarnet sodium injection (90 mg·kg-1, qd, ivgtt), mecobalamin, vitamin B1 and acyclovir ointment. On the iffth day, the limbs and face of the patient appeared edema, as well as nausea, loss of appetite, less urine, itchy skin. The patient's serum creatinine, urea nitrogen tendency and urine speciifc gravity were542μmol·L-1,28.6 mmol·L-1and 1.005 respectively, the patient was diagnosed as acute renal failure, foscarnet sodium injection was stopped immediately. After hospitalization, lfuid intake was restricted, and the patient was given a low salt, low fat, high quality protein diet. Ten days later, the edema and pruritus disappeared, the patient's serum creatinine, urea nitrogen tendency and urine speciifc gravity changed to be86μmol·L-1,7.1 mmol·L-1 and 1.012 with normal renal function.
