One case of mental disorder induced by atorvastatin calcium

Abstract:One 78-year-old male patient admitted to hospital due to precordial pain for 20 hours, precordial lancinating pain with cold sweat for about 2– 3 hours. The patient was diagnosed as acute coronary syndrome. The patient was treated with atorvastatin calcium tablet 20 mg to stabilize plaque, regulate blood lipids and improve microcirculation, etc. After 3 days, the patient suffered with mental disorder, talking nonsense, restlessness, giving irrelevant answers without headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, chills and weakness. The pathology was negative. Giving the adverse drug reaction was caused by atorvastatin calcium, the medicine was stopped. After 2 days, the symptoms of mental disorder relieved and disappeared with no recurrence 4 days later.
