Pharmaceutical care on a patient of thyrotoxic heart disease with leukopenia

Abstract:One 26-year-old male patient was hospitalized for paroxysmal chest distress and breathing obstruction for 20 days. After hospitalization, the patient received therapy in respect of promoting cardiac function, antithyroid, increasing leukocytes and protecting liver funtion. Adverse drug reactions (ADR) such as leukopenia and drug-induced liver injury were occurred successively during the treatment. Clinical pharmacists gave pharmaceutical cares and medication education to the patient, and provided individual medication suggestions of drug selection, drug use, ADR treatment to the physicians. After the treatment, the cardiac function of the patient was promoted, the thyroid function was decreased, meanwhile leukocytes and liver function recovered to the normal levels, which indicated that the therapeutic scheme was safe and effective.
