One case of anomalopia and painful swelling of joints caused by levofloxacin

Abstract:One 76-year-old male patient with past history of bronchiectasis for more than 20 years had no history of adverse drug reactions. The patient was admitted to hospital due to the bronchiectasis and infection. After admission, antitussive, antiasthmatic and expectorant was administered for symptomatic treatment, and intravenous infusion of levolfoxacin (0.5 g, q 24 h) was administered for anti-infection. On the second day, the patient appeared blurred vision, mild pain and swelling of double ankles after infusion of levolfoxacin for 3 hours, but got no special treatment. On the third day, the patient appeared blurred vision, visual gray, painful swelling of double ankles and knees after infusion of levolfoxacin for 1.5 hours. Levolfoxacin was stopped in time, the patient received intravenous piperacillin and tazobactam sodium (4.5 g, q 8 h), and symptomatic treatments such as anti-infection, joint local hot compress and physical therapy. One day later, the blurred vision and visual abnormalities improved obviously. After 9 days accompanied drug withdrawal, the symptom of joints swelling pain gradually improved.
