Abstract:Objective:To analyze the relationship between the effect and the cost of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: The retrospective case study method was used in the treatment of middle and advanced stage NSCLC patients according to the standard of treatment. According to the therapeutic regimen, the patients were divided into group A (western medicine), group B (chemotherapy plus Chinese medicine injection), group C (chemotherapy plus TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment). The change of tumor volume, quality of life and main symptoms were used as the measuring indexes to analyze the cost-effects of three treatment protocols. Results: In the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer, group C had the good efficacy, which showed no signiifcant difference compared with the other 2 groups (P >0.05), while group C could decrease the occurrence of adverse drug reaction compared with the other 2 groups with signiifcant difference (P<0.01). Conclusion: In the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer, chemotherapy plus TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment has a slight increase on the cost of treatment, but the effect of treatment is signiifcantly improved and the ADR was lowest.
