Effect of clinical pharmacist's intervention on inappropriate drug use in cardiological department

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the methods of clinical pharmacists participating in drug treatment and evaluate the effect of clinical pharmacist's intervention on drug use.Methods:Work records of clinical pharmacist in cardiovascular ward in the past continuous 28 months were analyzed retrospectively.Results:The total number of irrational drug use was obviously reduced after the intervention of clinical pharmacist. The numbers of cases associated with inappropriate drug use were 147 (43.49%) in 2012, 104 (30.77%) in 2013 and 87 (25.74%) in 2014. Compared with 2012, the number of cases associated with inappropriate drug use in 2014 declined by 40.82%.Conclusion:Clinical pharmacists could improve rational drug use by participating in drug therapy, giving medication suggestion and decreasing the occurrence of adverse drug reaction.
