Application analysis of antibacterial drugs of emergency prescriptions in our hospital

Abstract:Objective:To investigate and analyze the application of antibacterial drugs in emergency department of our hospital, in order to provide reference for rational drug use.Methods:A total of 3600 emergency prescriptions from July 2013 to June 2014 were randomly extracted. And the top ten antibacterial drugs were retrospectively analyzed.Results:There were 1546 antibacterial prescriptions (42.94%) in the total 3600 prescriptions. About 257 antibacterial prescriptions (16.62%) were irrational, which mainly included inappropriate combined utilization of drugs, no indication for drug use, improper dosage and frequency, inappropriate kind of drugs, etc. DDDs analysis showed that cephalosporins were used most frequently in emergency department, among which cefodizime was the most used.Conclusion:There were a lot of inappropriate problems in the application of the antibacterial drugs in emergency department of our hospital. It is necessary to strengthen the training and supervision on the rational application of antibacterials, establish an effective reward and punishment mechanism, thus to promote the clinical rational drug use. The pharmacists should also perform their responsibilities as far as possible to guard the rational drug use together with doctors.
