Medication analysis of ertapenem in surgical department of our hospital in 2013

Abstract：Objective:To evaluate the efifcacy and safety of ertapenem in surgical department of our hospital, and provide references for clinical drug use.Methods:The medical records of the patients who received ertapenem between June 2013 and December 2013 in surgical department were screened, and 132 cases were enrolled for retrospective analysis. The data were analyzed in respect of the indications of ertapenem, usage and dosage, pathogenic examination and adverse drug reactions (ADRs).Results:Out of the 132 patients included in analysis, the effective rate was 84.85%. There were 29 cases of ADRs, and 13 patients (9.84%) whose treatment durations were more than 14 days.Conclusion:The treatment with ertapenem had signiifcant effect on patients with infection of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It should be paid more attention to empirical postoperation treatment and nonstandard treatment of ertapenem for avoiding the occurrence of drug-resistant strain.
