Treatment analysis and pharmaceutical care of a case of gestational diabetes mellitus

Abstract:One 26-year-old female patient was hospitalized for dry mouth, polydipsia and polyuria for more than one month. The patient was diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus. After admission, the patient was treated with blood glucose control. The initial therapeutic regimen and the efifcacy of medications were evaluated, and the pharmaceutical care was carried out by clinical pharmacists. Even the use of insulin pump, blood glucose was still poorly controlled. Combining with the latest treatment guidelines, clinical pharmacists analyzed the patient's condition, suggested that the time periods of the basic transfusion of the insulin pump should be changed from 3 to 6, and enhanced the patient's medication education. After 10 days, the blood glucose of the patient reached to normal levels, and she was discharged from hospital.
