Abstract:Objective:To observe the effects of extracts from Xinjiang Kunlun Coreopsis tinctoria lfowers on blood glucose in diabetic mice and investigate the mechanism preliminarily. Methods:Diabetic mice were induced by high-fat and high-sugar diet and peritoneal injection low dose of streptozotocin (STZ), which were randomly divided into model group, Xinjiang Kunlun Coreopsis tinctoria lfowers extracts treatment groups (with the doses of 2, 4 and 8 g·kg-1) and the metformin positive control group (0.16 g·kg-1). The normal mice from the same batch were used as the normal control group. The indexes of blood glucose, C-peptide, HbA1c, ISI, IRI were observed. Results: The extracts of medium and high dose treatment group can reduce blood glucose and HbA1c (P<0.05). All extracts treatment groups can increase serum C-peptide levels and ISI (P<0.01). The extracts of high dose treatment group can decrease IRI (P<0.01) in diabetic mice for 4 weeks treatment compared with model group. Conclusion:The extracts of Xinjiang Kunlun Coreopsis tinctoria flowers can significantly reduce blood glucose by increasing insulin secretion, reducing insulin resistance and the recovering pancreaticβ-cellfunction probably in diabetic mice.
