Experience of pharmaceutical care by clinical pharmacists in obstetrical department

Abstract：A wide range of physiological changes occur during perinatal period, these changes can significantly affect pharmacokinetics of drugs. The development and function of the tissue and organ in fetus can be inlfuenced after use of medicines in perinatal period patients because of placental transport and milk transport. Neonates are particularly sensitive to the toxic and side effect of most kinds of medicines. So the clinical use of drugs should be paid more attention to during perinatal period. In this article, the cases of pharmaceutical care by clinical pharmacists were discussed, such as assisting doctors to optimize the drug therapy regime for pregnant and lactational women, offering pharmaceutical care for patient with intravenous use of magnesium sulfate injection, providing medication education for patients, collecting the adverse drug reactions and so on. These measures ensure the safety of drug utilization in patients and promote the rational drug use in clinic.
