Pathoglycemia induced by levofloxacin

Abstract:One 40-year-old female patient without diabetes mellitus and drug allergy presented with 7-day fever. Widal reaction was suggestive of paratyphoid A infection and then levolfoxacin injection was given to the patient once a day (0.5 g, ivgtt). After two weeks, the blood glucose of the patient dropped from 7.3 mmol·L-1 to 3.8 mmol·L-1. Levolfoxacin was stopped, the blood glucose and urine sugar of the patient returned to normal range 3 days later.
