Abstract:One 68-year-old male patient with hiccups and sour regurgitation was treated with lansoprazole for injection (30 mg, bid). Esophageal carcinectomy was performed at the seventh day. Platelet count was 72 × 109·L-1 after operation. Then piperacillin sodium and tazobactam sodium, cefpiramide for anti-infection, medium and long chain fat emulsion injection for nutrition support and furosemide were given to the patient. Three days later, platelet count dropped to 27 × 109·L-1. Lansoprazole was stopped, the patient's platelet count recovered to normal range with the help of recombinant human interleukin-11 for injection and platelet transfusion. Lansoprazole was given to the patient once again and platelet count obviously dropped. So lansoprazole was stopped immediately and platelet count increased next day without using any other drugs. Thrombocytopenia induced by lansoprazole was considered.
