Allergic reaction caused by myrtol standardized enteric capsules

Abstract:One 52-year-old female patient was admitted to hospital for cardia polyp. She was given ambroxol hydrochloride injection (30 mg) and cefmetazole (2 g) injection because of inlfammatory lesion in inferior lobe of left lung. Seven days later, she was still troubled with too much phlegm to expectorate. So myrtol standardized enteric capsules (300 mg) were orally given to the patient. One hour later, the patient developed symptoms of tightness, shortness of breath, nausea, and generalized body rashes with itching. She received inhalation of continuous low lfow oxygen, intramuscular injection of promethazine hydrochloride 25 mg and loratadine dispersible tablets 10 mg immediately. About 30 minutes later, the symptoms disappeared without recurrence after withdrawl of the myrtol standardized enteric capsules.
