Abstract:Mycophenolic acid (MPA) is an immunosuppressive agent currently prescribed in organ transplantation. Free MPA has pharmacological activity. The metabolism of free MPA is affected by many factors, which manifests different plasma concentrations in different individuals. New advances including the main factors affecting the metabolism of free MPA, the relationship between free MPA and adverse drug reaction, the technology of monitoring free MPA concentration were reviewed. The dosage regimen should be established according to the patient's individual characteristics and disease states, which could provide reference for implementing individual medication, improving clinical efficacy and decreasing the occurrence of adverse drug reactions.
