Allergic shock caused by gadoteric acid meglumine injection

Abstract:One 63-year-old male patient had the allergic history to penicillin. The patient received gadoteric acid meglumine injection 20 mL intravenously for enhanced magnetic resonance image (MRI) examination in our hospital. After one minute, the patient appeared the serious allergic reaction. The patient complained of skin allergic reaction with hard breath and heavy sweat. The blood pressure could not be detected and the patient lost his consciousness. The patient was sent to the emergency room immediately for ifrst aid. The blood pressure was 67-72/44-48 mm Hg, heart rate was 120-124 beats per minute and SaO2 was 90%-94%. The medical diagnosis was an anaphylactic shock. The patient was given the medical therapy with dexone injection, dopamine injection, aminophylline injection, epinephrine injection and 6%hydroxyethyl starch (130/0.4) sodium chloride injection, about 1 hour later, the patient's blood pressure raised to normal level and the life signs were stable.
