Application evaluation of the antibacterial agents in inpatient prescriptions of our hospital in 2012

Abstract:Objective:To analyze the application of antibacterial agents in inpatient prescriptions of our hospital from April to September of 2012, in order to provide references for rational use of antibacterial agents in clinic. Methods:The medical records of inpatients were randomly selected for evaluation of the rationality of inpatient prescriptions and analysis of the utilization of antibacterial drugs. Results: There were 546 medical records collected in the evaluation, 197 records were for the prophylactic use of antibacterial agents and 349 records for therapeutic use. There were 65 medical records with medication errors, accounting for 11.9%of all evaluated medical records. The accumulated number of errors were 111, and 14 terms were unreasonable prophylactic use of antibacterials, accounting for 7.1%, and 97 terms were unreasonable therapeutic use, accounting for 27.8%. Conclusion:Unreasonable use of antibacterial agents appeared various forms in inpatient prescriptions, especially in usage and dosage of antibacterial agents. Supervision and training should be strengthened for improving rational use of antibacterial agents.
