Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the rationality of the drug utilization in 100 patients with COPD in our hospital. Methods: The drug utilization of 100 patients with COPD in our hospital collected from January 1, 2012 to March 31, 2012 was evaluated by drug utilization review (DUR) and drug use evaluation (DUE). Results:Among the 35 kinds of drugs involved in 100 patients, values of DUI of 3 kinds of drugs were more than 1, while values of DUI of other 32 kinds of drugs were less than 1 or equal to 1, and all the patients underwent the blood routine detection and evaluation of liver and kidney function. During the therapeutic process, the monitoring percentages of blood routine detection, liver function, kidney function, potassium levels and pathogen were 67.0%, 37.0%, 74.0%, 77.0%and 93.3%, respectively. The top three drugs in terms of drug use frequency were montelukast sodium, doxofylline and ambroxol hydrochloride. The evaluation of DUE method showed that the clinical symptoms of 90 cases (90%) improved after treatment, and 53 patients (53%) with complications were cured. Conclusion:A more comprehensive evaluation of drug utilization in patients with COPD can be achieved by using DUR plus DUE method.
