Abstract:Long QT syndrome (LQTS) is a cardiac repolarization disorder caused by mutations in genes encoding cardiac ion channels, characterized by prolonged QT interval and torsades de pointes ventricular tachycardia, which can lead to syncope, convulsions, and sudden cardiac death. The global prevalence is approximately 1/2000–1/5000, with a slightly higher incidence in females, and it is more common in children and adolescents, accounting for 15%–20% of sudden cardiac deaths in individuals under 40 years of age.
