Abstract:Objective To discuss the correlation between galectin-1(Gal-1)and severity in patients with viral myocarditis(VMC).Methods VMC patients(n=46)were prospectively selected into observation group, and healthy volunteers(n=54)with physical examinations were selected into control group in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from May 2019 to Jan.2023.The difference in Gal-1 was compared between 2 groups, meanwhile correlation between Gal-1 and VMC severity was analyzed. The relationship between Gal-1 and prognosis was analysis after 1-y follow-up period. Results Gal-1 increased significantly in observation group compared with control group(25.60±5.69 ng/ml vs.13.70±3.00 ng/ml,P<0.001).The results of Pearson linear correlation analysis showed that Gal-1 was positively correlated to cardiac troponin(cTn),brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)and high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP,P<0.05),and was negatively correlated to left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF,P<0.05).Gal-1 increased significantly in patients with heart failure(HF)compared with other patients(29.85±5.53 ng/ml vs.24.54±5.24 ng/ml,P=0.002).Gal-1 had some predictive value to HF occurrence in VMC patients, and AUC was 0.752(95%CI:0.630~0.874,P=0.001).Gal-1 increased significantly in patients with good prognosis compared with those with poor prognosis(28.87±6.63 ng/ml vs.18.90±7.06 ng/ml,P<0.001).Gal-1 had a higher predictive value to poor prognosis in VMC patients, and AUC was 0.847(95%CI:0.764~0.930).Conclusion The expression level of Gal-1 increases in VMC patients, which may be related to heart function injury and can be taken as one of predictive indicators for HF.
